FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes always. I am a member of several continuing education organizations such as IDEA, ACE (American Council on Exercise), I renew my certifications through the IFPA (International Fitness Professionals Association) and the ISSA (International Sports Science Association) every two years. I read and write daily articles for the public on health and fitness. I attend quarterly educational seminars and intend on continuing my education with a master degree.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Health and fitness has always been a large part of my life that started through martial arts when I was eight. My father taught me the importance of conditioning the body and mind. I carried on his teaching and went on to receive beyond black belt status competing in PKC (Professional Karate Committee) tournaments. I then ventured into bodybuilding in order see how far physically I could challenge myself. This lead to several NPC (National Physique Committee) competitions. I feel challenging the mind and body is a good thing as longs as its done in a healthy way.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently was asked by the Little Red Door Cancer Agency to design a corporate wellness program for their employees with little or no cost to the organization. In doing so I was able to develop a business model that exceeded their expectations. The wellness programs was designed to progressively guide people towards developing a solid foundation for a sustainable healthy lifestyle. The on-site personal training at provided at Little Red Door was mostly functional training maximizing the amount of muscles used during an exercise resulting in the most efficient workout possible. The program was designed quarterly focusing on these aspects: Physical and Mental, Body Fat Loss and Water Consumption, Exercise and Relaxation, Healthy Eating and Stress Reduction. The business model was so successful I have been able to implement the program into two other companies.
