I am a graphic designer, illustrator, muralist, and fine artist residing in Chicago, IL. I am currently seeking freelance work and/or full-time work in areas of brand identity, advertisement, marketing, and illustration. I am open to all forms of design, including web design and production art.

The unforetold hardships of life have pushed me to explore the boundaries of art, finding no limitations in what I can do. It is because of this that my work is vivid and has a certain quality of life that is appreciated by its viewers, whether it be a logo or an over-sized portrait.

I'm interested in many forms of art, including typography, watercolors, ink drawings, vector art, and production work. With just over 4 years of professional experience as a graphic designer, I have a strong sense of what I can do and areas I am focused on improving. I strive to be a better designer and artist with each day, paying attention to current trends and media.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Make sure the provider has photos of similar work you are looking for. Browse through them and make sure the quality meets your expectations. Also be sure to ask about cost of supplies, whether or not they are included in the flat price or if you can expect to be billed separately for them. For design work, make sure you are getting what you are paying for, but also expect to pay a reasonable amount for what you are asking for. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you are unsure how a specific business operates.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Many customers look for the cheapest price or best deal. In all honesty though, you usually get what you pay for. The best artists price their work reasonably, which may seem high to you. If you are paying $200-$600 for a logo design (depending on the level of business you have), expect to receive at least 3 initial design choices to choose from, and then have changes and corrections to one of those designs. If you go overboard with corrections, the artist will have to charge you more because of time issues. Be sure you are clear and concise with your corrections to avoid unnecessary extra work.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What is included in your price?
Will there be a receipt or any proof of purchase?
How will the final product be sent? Email, shipped, on-site, etc.?
Will there be a deadline or when can I expect to receive my goods/purchase?
Do you have enough information from me to achieve exactly what I want?
Are your hours flexible or do you work weekends (for on-site or time sensitive projects)?
What is the best way to reach you?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Definitely think about your budget. What are you expecting to pay and how much can you afford. Don't be shocked if the final price exceeds what you expected, but be sure to ask around before you make a decision, to avoid being ripped-off.

Think about the style and quality of work you are looking for, have a few examples in mind, but be willing to let the artist have their own vision and ideas.
