It's hard to write a review about someone as talented as Lance. Full disclosure, I am an interior designer who works with a lot of contractor's and who aspires to do things to my space that I can't afford. I met him in the middle of moving despair, facing the task of relocating a 34 foot long bookshelf and several thousand books; Lance summed up the job and quickly did it. He followed it up with lot's of other projects; building huge tables, hanging suspended wood ceilings, and recently completing a beautiful wood wall detail. He has an upbeat and positive personality and is capable of doing work that is of perfect and outstanding quality (if time and budget permits) or has the ability to scale things back and complete them quickly, still doing a good job but providing solutions at more affordable rates that ignore the more finite details. With Lance, I never worry about having him in my place and had not a hesitation about handing him my house key so he could come and go on a big project.

We moved into an older home in Melrose Park and hired Lance for a variety of Carpentry and Handyman projects needed as we settled in. We called on him to put flooring in the basement, build walls, fix cabinets, install wall mounted televisions, and insulate a crawl space. And other stuff that I can't remeber right now. Hee was competent, courteous, honest and very fair. I will hire him again (soon I suspect as the work in this house seems endless ;-)

Lance installed a gorgeous wood paneled wall in my kitchen. I wish I could attach a before and after picture of his work. He was friendly, quick ,efficient, and always available if I had any questions. I am referring him to a number of my friends. I can't rave enough about his craftsmanship and professionalism. Two thumbs up.

Lance was very proffesional. He showed up in our moving crises and mounted our big screen tv on our wall. He was prepared and had all the rite tools. He has an in depth knowledge of carpentry. Thanks again Lance. If you need something done rite call Lance. He is very honest and fair with his pricing.

Lance saved me hours of frustration in assembling a television cabinet. He was prompt in showing up and courteous throughout. He pointed out a damaged portion of the cabinet and offered a screw when the piece was short on parts. Lance went above and beyond the call of duty by helping me move a heavy television set, assembling it and helping me to place it on the television stand. I could tell that he takes great pride in his work. I would highly recommend him for any carpentry job.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My father was a union painter, and I was brought along on jobs since I was a kid. I attended Lane Tech HS and took every shop class I could cram into my schedule. I've always loved the work, the calculation, getting to create. When the opportunity for an apprenticeship came my way, I took it.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

A leak in a client's roof had created a waterfall that ran from the attic to the basement, destroying the west wall on each of three floors. I did the initial tearout on a Sunday, and after the mold remediation and weatherizing was complete, I was able to install new insulation, drywall and paint with 20 hours in the space.
