It was a wonderful experience working with Kate from Arranging Order from beginning to end! Kate is professional, personable, listens to your needs in the space and addresses them, and is mindful of the budget that is set. I was blown away by the final outcome! In a few hours, my home and workspace were transformed completely, most with what I already had. Now I feel settled in, at home, and efficient in my workspace. I have a small studio that now actually looks bigger with more furniture in than it did before without those pieces! I highly recommend AO to whomever wants to reorganize or redesign their working and living spaces.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I most often work with my clients on "editing."

My clients are usually individuals or younger families who have a limited budget. Often they are most interested in paint color selection assistance, or help finding the best item(s), whether furniture or accessories for their space within their budget.

I also provide a great deal of organization assistance to my clients. Sometimes this involves buying organizing items to maximize their storage space in a visually appealing manner.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. It's important that both parties feel comfortable with each other. A designer comes into your home or office (such a personal space!) and it's important that their is mutual trust between both parties.

A client should be able to walk into their space at the end of the project - and feel like "home."

With open and clear communication - the best possible outcome is able to be reached. The perfect design for you and your space.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Designers receive discounts when working with certain vendors. Because of this, some designers push certain items on their customers to "pad their fee" and not pass that discount on to their customer.

I think this is misleading - sometimes customers aren't getting the best item for their needs because the designer discounts the item for their client and uses that discount towards their fees.

Any discount I receive from the trade - I pass on to my client. Honesty is always the best policy.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We work you with to solve design challenges collaboratively. In order to achieve the desired outcome, the process needs to be fluid with excellent communication. I pride myself on being personal, professional and approachable.
