Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Although most attorneys that I have ever dealt with have been good and honest professionals, there are times when I believe that attorneys "inflate" or "pad" their times by charging for more time than they actually spend on a particular matter, or by charging for time actually spent on a matter to an absurd extreme (e.g., charging 0.1 or more for 30 second phone calls or voicemails, charging for moving files in an office, etc). Just be careful that you get an attorney who won't nickel and dime you to death.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. The work of Andresen & Associates stands apart from the work of other in that its never "just a job" with the firm. Every client and every task is treated with the utmost of attention, care and diligence. We know that legal services require a substantial investment of a client’s financial resources, and we want to make sure that every client feels like they got what they paid for—and more!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Andresen & Associates is blessed to have a wide array of interesting and creative clients in a number of pursuits (e.g., sports teams/leagues/properties, film producers, writers/artists, creative entrepreneurs, etc.). As such, every day is a new and exciting adventure and another opportunity to do interesting work with some really creative people.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. I often get asked why lawyers cost so much. The answer is that, at least from my experience, you are paying an attorney for the skills and knowledge that that they have devoted substantial resources of time (in my case, 10+ years of school and 10+ years of practice), money (well into 6 figures for college/law school/MBA tuition, etc.) and passion. Simply put, the skills that a good attorney bring to a table are very difficult to come by, and therefore more expensive than other service providers.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I have many "favorite stories" from my time practicing law, but the best stories are those in which people introduce me to their friends, family or colleagues as a "my friend and attorney" or something like that. It always feels really good when someone is that happy with the services they have received from me.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I actively participate in continuing legal education seminars, symposiums and workshops as a speaker or attendee to keep up on changes in the law, as well as other educational opportunities to keep current on the sports and entertainment industries.
