I had contacted the moving company here which is listed on craigslist in August of 2013, specifically on Friday August 16th where they were listed as Elite One Movers. Their rates looked good for $25 an hour per mover and I needed assistance unloading a 1 bedroom apartment and loading a 10 foot long truck with a very restricted elevator time from my building at Marina City. After speaking with the company representative, I believe his name was Mike or Isaac, I originally scheduled the move for 12 noon with 2 movers for 2 hours at a rate of $100. Moving day comes, I call them around 12:15 PM asking where they are, I hear a story about how 2 of their movers are sick and they will try to get another crew out to me as soon as possible. I call back around 12:30 PM they say they have another crew who is finishing a move for a White Sox player and it's a 4 man crew who can be there at 2 PM and they want $200. I tell them it's not what I agreed to at first and that I don't have the elevator after 2 PM and that I will not pay that price. The representative says it will be done for less than that by the time they are finished. Meanwhile at my building, I am loading the small boxes on my own leaving the table and couch and bed I have for these guys to show up. Around 2 PM I am loading my truck and another person who is moving into the building has the elevator reserved from 2-4 PM tells me I need to move my truck or they are calling building security. I end up moving my truck out of their way so they can move in as they have reserved it but needless to say getting my stuff down to the truck with an elevator that is now reserved for someone else, it is another set of problems making the day worse. It is now 2 PM I call Elite One back explaining what has happened and they say their crew is finishing up and will be on their way, in the meantime, the other resident who has elevator access has their movers moving his stuff in. I ask if when they are done I can get them for a half hour job and they say they will be able to. I also get help from a building super who is on the clock doing other maintenance work to load my couch into the truck and wrap my table. So I get a few things loaded and it is now 3:30 PM and I need more help to disassemble my tables and load my bed, the other movers will help on that but I then call for a status check with Elite One. I call Elite One, they supposedly are stuck at the always jammed up circle interchange where I-90/I-94/I-290 meet outside of Chicagos loop. I tell them at that point "Don't even bother, your crew is now 3-1/2 hours late, they want more money than I agreed on, and I've got other people at my building who can do the job your guys failed to do." The representative then pleads with me saying "are you sure? our guys want to help" and I say I am then ended the phone call. So noting that, they never showed up because I fired them after being that late and putting me threw what I got put through. I completed my truck loading with the assistance of my building staff and these other movers who took a side job helping me pack and I was in a very bad mental state at the end of the day before I got on the road. If they were telling the truth about being stuck at the circle interchange, then I guess that makes me the only person here on yelp that actually got over on them a little. Reading all their other reviews on other sites, yelp specifically, it seems a very good thing I fired them before they showed up because of the bad jobs they did for everyone else who had the misfortune of dealing with them. I know this was the same company who these other people on yelp reviewed because I am reading the same exact stories about lateness, screwed elevator times, doubling of the labor prices, and other similar problems I faced with this moving company. I've learned from this experience not to hire movers from craigslist and I have plans below for how I will deal with Elite One Movers. After doing research I have found this company also goes by Reliable Movers, Popeyes Movers, Lions Movers, and All American Movers. They can be reached at the following phone numbers: 219-292-2310, 312-219-1427, 708-769-2451, 708-717-6124, 708-769-1499, 872-201-9592. They can be reached at the following email address-mash44@live.com. They only advertise on craigslist in all likelihood because their reputation is too tarnished to advertise elsewhere. I promise to tarnish them further and make sure they cannot work anywhere. If Elite One is reading this review, I've got the following things to say to them- if you notice anything on craigslist that is reporting or flagging any advertisements with your information, I am one of the people doing it; if you notice any ads on craigslist saying not to hire you, I am the one writing them. You have one choice Elite One- close shop for good now or I and the others who have written about you will close you for good.
