Introduction: I have been coaching professional and aspiring singers, actors, and songwriters for the past 15 years! I thought writing a song for the first time would be daunting, especially given the weight of the gift to the couple getting married. However, Jess’s song writing process truly is a masterful “science,” and the whole process couldn’t have felt easier. It was fun, creative and her confidence in the song writing process she’s created is so good but humble, that the song felt like it came to life before my eyes in what felt like minutes. It was really cool to watch it unfold before my eyes and have a really unique feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment after. Like, wow! I wrote a song! This is an original and we created it together.... something I thought I might never say. I couldn’t recommend Jess and the songwriting process more. It’s really cool that she chooses to share her process with others as a service. Thanks Jess!

Jess is a professional, talented, and responsible songwriting instructor, coach and mentor. In my experience teaching songwriting is similar to teaching comedy writing whereby one person’s rough idea sparks a better idea by another person leading toward an improved creative outcome. In addition to improvisation Jess provides clever suggestions on how to jumpstart a song from scratch for example using a bass guitar create the foundation of a song’s essence and then adding guitar chords, drums and piano later. Jess is equally brilliant at teaching voice which she incorporates into her songwriting guidance. My teenage daughter loves working with Jess on writing new songs because she quickly learns from her mistakes, discovers new shortcuts and gains confidence in her own natural talent to create something from nothing - a beautiful song.

Jess is amazing! I’ve been singing since I was very young, but I haven’t had formal lessons in many years. Jess has helped me understand my voice in a new way and had worked with me to expand my belt, properly support my breathing, combat vocal exhaustion, start writing a song, record/work with singing in a microphone, and so much more!! I’m so thankful to be her vocal student and would highly recommend her to anyone interested in lessons!

I am typically 90/hour, with a 350 4 pack rate, but I am offering a thumbtack promo: 75/hour in person, 280 4 pack 60 Skype/facetime, 200 4 pack
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We always start with basic technique, then transition into material for the second half.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Vanderbilt University for Vocal Performance and graduated from Columbia College as a Theater Major.
