Introduction: Our owner and head engineer, Grammy nominee Chris Steinmetz, has spent over 20 years working with nationally acclaimed artists as an engineer & producer before starting Stonecutter Recording Studios in Chicago. Chris has quite the body of experience mixing and mastering records for the likes of Kanye West, Kiss, and Paul Simon, just to name a few (full discography available here). With his level of expertise, we’ve no doubt that Chris will bring out the best in your work. Additionally, the rest of our staff will work diligently to make sure you have a comfortable and welcoming experience.
We would love to arrange a tour/meeting at our studio in the South Loop of Chicago to discuss any projects you have and how we may be able to help, whether it be with recording, mixing, mastering, or production. In addition to these services, we provide marketing and legal assistance as well as a large collection of instruments and amplifiers. Our studio also has free parking that can accommodate loading and unloading of equipment.

Chris produced my self-titled EP, has worked with me through tons of demos, and has helped me develop my sound as an artist. Will take care of you in the studio. Extremely reliable as an recording/mixing/mastering engineer and has a great ear as a producer.

Working with Chris & Stonecutter was an amazing experience. Overall I was very impressed with the studio., and professionalism. Chris treated us like rockstars, and his skills are a cut above the rest.
If you're looking for that "major label sound" but not at a major label price you can't beat Stonecutter Recording Studio. The audio quality of our mixes were off the hook!

Awesome experience, love how the record turned out. Chris did a great job of pulling the best performance out of our band, and he mixed the product expertly, even throwing in a few subtle fx and modern production sounds. Helpful staff. Competitive rates.

Having worked with studios for the last 20 years - Stonecutter is the best. Chris is outstanding. He has helped us make our songs sound amazing. The quality and production allowed us to get interest by major players and to win awards. You get big LA recording sound at a great price.
