Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I wish I knew that a lot of what's posted in women's fitness magazines is not true! For example, doing ONLY yoga and pilates will give you long and lean muscles....So we read that Jennifer Aniston and Madonna are huge fans of yoga and Pilates (because they don’t want to “bulk up” right?). So we race to the nearest studio in hopes of acquiring a body similar to our favorite celebs. The truth is that yoga and Pilates are an awesome way to increase core strength and improve posture. However, these types of workouts should be done in addition to a weight training and cardio program.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I can relate to my client's struggles with weight loss because I experienced my own personal transformation. In 2007, I lost over 40lbs and I left my corporate role as an Account Director to persue my passion in fitness. I've committed myself to helping others take control of their physical wellness.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I enjoy every minute of my profession! Personal training is not a "job" it is a profession. I love helping my clients see their bodies change in ways they never could've imagined! I love the look on their faces when the measurements and bodyfat are dropping. And the best feeling is when they realize that they are training harder than they have ever trained while having FUN!!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What are some quick ways to drop fat?
- Eat 5 small meals per day (i.e., breakfast , snack, lunch, snack, dinner). Fueling up constantly fires up your body’s metabolism

- Stay away from processed foods (i.e. frozen dinners, boxed rice or pastas, etc). Processed meals are high in sodium and can encourage bloating.

- Have a source of protein at every meal: Protein helps with muscle repair and improves hair, skin and nails.

- Drink WATER! (lack of hydration causes bloating and water retention)

- Limit dairy! Milk (even skim milk) is high in sugar. Try soy milk instead, plus it gives and an extra protein boost.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My favorite story is about a woman who I still train. She was a former smoker and had some unhealthy eating habits. She came to me loaded with determination to change her life and she has! After 2 months of hard work and revamping her nutrition, she has lost over 20lbs!! She told me that she has never lost this much weight in her life!! I'm so proud of her!
