I went on a trip of a lifetime back in July. Spent a week on yacht sailing around the Adriatic sea (Croatia) toting around my gopro hero 3 trying to film all of the cool things that we were doing. Once I returned I began trying to edit my footage into a short highlight video to send to all of the people who joined me on my trip. I quickly realized I was in way over my head. I had a couple ideas of how I wanted the video to turn out but was left trying to pull my hair out after trying to learn software and getting the motion of the video to flow smoothly. In steps Ryan with RL Visuals. I gave him very few instructions and I shared all my clips with him. Within two days he sent me the first cut. The first cut was good enough to publish but we had to make a couple additions because I had forgotten to upload some footage that I wanted to be included. Same deal, before I knew it he sent me the second cut and it was just incredible. He was able to take about 30 short shake clips and turn it into a short film that was nothing short of exceptional. The video kept the viewer engaged the whole way and made me and the others from the trip feel like we were right back in the Adriatic. I'm planning another trip to Hawai'i, Australia, and New Zealand come March '15 and you can bet that Ryan will be one of my first calls when I return. I won't bother stressing about putting together a film because I know he'll do it infinitely better and make it look effortless. I cannot wait to click "share" with Ryan in all my future endeavors. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Always learning. I read about new camera technologies. I sharpen my current techniques by taking seminars bi-annually in both camera work and digital editing.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I made a video for a roommate in college with zero production experience. Then I switched majors..I was hooked!
What types of customers have you worked with?
Video editing various projects from small online videos to weddings to vacations and everything in between. I also take a lot of portraits, headshots, and architecture pictures.
