FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Originally I studied fine art, and used photography as one of many items in my toolbox. During school I realized how much I enjoyed just making photographs for the sake of it, and later that I could provide a great service with my growing talent. When I had enough clients that it made having a day job just seem crazy I moved to freelancing full time as a photographer. I've enjoyed every day since.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my work is in event documentation - from arts and music to performance and dance. I have been able to hone my abilities in capturing candid moments which really convey the atmosphere of an event or performance, and which have made my work in portraiture even better.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Think about all of the shots you can't live without. Having a good idea of what you need to begin with helps a photographer give you just that, and maybe even surprise you with another shot that helps tell that story even better. Don't forget to schedule at least a week or two in advance. Freelancing allows a photographer to be flexible, but I'd love to be able to promise you a date that works great for both of us, and not have to compromise in order to fit you in tomorrow morning. Be confident. I promise you look better on camera than you think you do. Most of the time the person who is most shy in front of the camera actually has the best look at the end of the day.
