- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most of my students take 30-45 minute lessons. Those prices are $35 and $53 respectively. I have a few adults who take lessons once or twice a month for an hour which are $70 each. I charge a $15 extra charge for home lessons.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took piano starting at age 7, violin at age 8, and harp lessons at age 10. I took lessons on all three instruments for many years and was a violin major at Wheaton College Conservatory for two years where took both violin and piano lessons and received extensive training in theory and performing on both instruments. I continue to learn as I regularly attend music workshops and conferences in music education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was an elementary classroom teacher for 27 years in three private schools in Miami and Chicago while always teaching piano on the side. Several years ago, my piano waiting list had become quite long and so I decided to go into teaching the piano full-time. It's a decision I do not regret! I love being a full-time piano teacher! (I am also a private tutor on the side, specializing in reading and writing.)
