Introduction: I am an IL certified and licensed K-12 science teacher. I have taught 9th-grade science at a health-focused charter school for Latinos in Chicago for the past 4 years.
I've also served as a mentor for the Chicago Scholars Program. I care deeply about helping each student to discover and reach his or her potential though key learning strategies, data-based instruction, and the perseverant support.
In my 4 years of teaching, I have seen my 9th-grade students grow -- on average -- over three points' growth on their science Explore and Plan tests, in comparison to a one point growth average in Chicago Public Schools.
