A Multi-Sensorial Approach to Learning

Introduction: I have over 9 years of experience tutoring and teaching Spanish & English. Learning a new language is fascinating, and seeing others learn is a passion of mine. I was trained to instruct both corporate teams and individuals (including children) by an international language education corporation called Berlitz. After working there for two years, and while studying art and design, I incorporated more creative and immersive ways to teaching and learning. My approach to teaching is simply described by two main approaches: I use Multisensory teaching techniques and strategies to stimulate learning faster and in deeper level, and I Hyper Customize classes based on the topics I believe you need to thrive in the environment where you will be practicing and using the language. So what do I mean with Multisensory teaching and Hyper Customization? Let me give you an example. I had a student who was hired to be the manager of a coffee plantation in Indonesia contingent that he learned English. Pressured, he had no time to waste and decided to skip the traditional language-learning route. He contacted me, and together we created a plan during our first free lesson. I then hyper customized the lectures by including management and business language and coffee and agriculture language. Furthermore, these lessons took place at a coffee plantation and coffee shops. We even harvested coffee beans together: The hands-on approach to analyzing coffee cherries (their sweet taste, their bright red and glossy color, and their firmness) and deciding wages based on basket weight not only allowed him to gain vocabulary but also allowed him to practice his skills in a safe environment before actually being out in the fields of Indonesia dealing with other coffee producers.
