FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm always reading articles and blogs about advancing video camera technologies, what major cinematographers are doing on film and TV series, and hearing how cameramen approach their job in telling stories in the most creative way that compliments the director's vision.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I studied Media Communications and Film Production in San Diego for college. I got a job working for the local Fox affiliate in my final semester of school and went from college right into full time work on the morning news show. I worked several years there as a camera operator and later the floor director. A documentary I made at that time took me to Honduras where I lived for 6 months working on a trade school and hosting mission teams to construct the school. I moved from Honduras to Chicago and began to do free lance work, where I started doing lighting on music videos, commercials, feature films and documentaries.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I was fortunate to work on creating a series for InterVarsity Arts Ministry where we traveled to New York City and interviewed artists discussing their journeys as professional artists. The series is a wonderful inside look for students wanting to know how top level artists got to where they are out of school.
