Jason took some wonderful family portraits and individual photos of our new baby. He was very accomodating and a pleasure to work with. We also found him to be very reasonable compared to other professionals we interviewed.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. 85% of my business is wedding, portrait and HDR photography of buildings, landscapes, aircraft and other vehicles.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Price is not everything. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I do offer lower cost packages to help those who may just need bare bones prices. You can always get prints or albums later. The events in your life only happen once!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Flash photography secrets -

Sometimes I use flash on sunny days, and don't use flash in darker settings. Its all about light, and knowing what kind of light you are working with

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. The following information is important for wedding clients:

Location
Time
Number of guests
What style shooting they want
Budget for photography

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Best Prices
Best Service
Best Value
Best Turn around time
Best Exposures!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love working with people, and using my camera to capture a part of their lives in a way they will look upon for years and enjoy. I love coming to a clients home for a second shoot and seeing my work on their walls. I love making a difference.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Most Common Question: How did you do that?

Answer: Its a secret ;)

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I started in photography at the age of 13.. and I don't mean I got my first point and shoot camera. I got a 35mm SLR and built a darkroom in my parents house. When I come to do your shoot I bring 20 years of experience with me.. and it does make a difference.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. It came naturally to me, and every time I picked up a camera people would want a print of the pictures I took.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I spend several hours each day reading up on new techniques and technology, and looking for inspiration and ideas from books, magazines, internet and my surroundings

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. YES! HDR photography....

I have three samples in my photos here on thumbtack. They are amazing pictures! It crosses a line between photography and art... my customers love it!!!

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Equipment is not everything. Its important to have good tools but some people can take a better photo with a point and shoot than others with a pro camera. But when you do buy equipment get the best lenses money can buy. You will replace your camera body pretty often, but the lenses are a lifetime investment
