A. The portfolio is everything. In order to exact a premium price from a customer, the photographer needs to be able to expose top quality work done in the past along the lines for which the customer is looking.
A. Do fellow photographers think highly of this one? WHich is more important, gear or the craftsman? Does this photographer use sufficently professional gear?
A. Examples of great work compared to not so great work. What are folks actually payi ng for these service in my region? How are services customerarily paid for; all up front, half and half? Are there recourses for shoddy work and how often does that happen? What awards has this photographer won? Has anyone recommended this photographer?
A. A trained eye can be gotten three ways. 1) Direct exposure to seasoned professionals. 2) Formal training from recognized schools. 3) Life experience doing something right for many, many years. Stu Marks has all three. He started his training under the tutorage of News Photographer Frank Boling in 1977, Has been shooting stills and videos commercially since 1977, and graduated with a BFA from the Illinois Institute of Art at Schaumburg/The Chicago Art Institute. When subtlety, dynamics and expression all meld and are appropriately applied, the result is a work that is both pleasing to the eye and a subject of significance to the viewer.
