Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. During the initial correspondences before awarding the provider the job, the customer should take note of how quickly the provider follows up with a proposal or breakdown of the job, and how thorough their understanding is of what the customer is looking for. This could weed out providers who may encounter snags in the middle of the job or take longer than expected to complete the job.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If I were a customer, I'd want to know how "custom" my custom website will really be. I'd also want to know how much the provider will charge for tweaks down the road.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Give a brief and general description of the type of website or web application you are looking for, and then let the provider fill in the details. If he/she can intelligently talk about the job during the proposal phase, and give guidance in areas that may be unexpected, this will go a long way in determining his/her skill set and attention to detail.
