Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The two most valuable criteria for finding the right therapist is experience and healing philosophy. Ellie Pickering has been in practice for twenty-five years and has worked with a variety of conditions. She provides a nurturing environment that supports and respects each individual's journey toward health and happiness.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Although Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is based on ancient Chinese philosophies, it is a very practical system of healing. TCM is comprised not only of acupuncture, but of 9-10 other modalities. Acupuncture is not a painful therapy. In fact, many patients fall asleep during the treatment.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. 1. Are you certified and licensed?
2. How long have you been in practice?
3. Do you specialize in any particular area?
4. Do you work with raw herb formulas? (although raw herb formulas take a little more time to prepare and are generally strong in taste, they are the most effective and least processed of Chinese herbal preparations.
5. Do you accept insurance?
