Had some finishing work that needed to be done, we needed it to match the existing wood work and wanted it to be done while we were away due to fumes, etc. Advanced Renovations got all the work done very quickly and cleaned up completely after the job. When I got back to my house, everything looked great, matched perfectly and I could not tell workers had even been in the house. I would definitely use them again for projects big and small. Being able to deliver high quality work in a timely fashion is hard to find, but Jim and Advanced Renovations can deliver.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Always check for references and make sure they are a licensed and insured contractor. Find someone who will really listen to your needs. We take great pride in customer satisfaction!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Remodeling can be stressful. Make sure you really like and trust the contractor. Are they excited about what they do? Do they really have passion about making your home project look the best that it can?

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Do you have references I can call? Can I see a copy of your insurance certificate? If the job is more that $1000 dollars they are required by law to give you a "Know Your Consumer Rights" pamphlet form the state of Illinois.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Do you have an idea for your remodeling project? Look through magazines and online pictures to get basic ideas and colors. Then call Advanced Renovations and let us make that dream a reality!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We take the time to really listen to each customer. We have very creative and unique ideas the other contractors just don't think of. If you are passionate about what you do it will show up in the quality of your work. Don't settle for second best!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love the look on the customers face when they see the finished project. It's so easy to get out of bed in the morning when you love what you do.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. After an initial consultation and a second meeting to discuss specifics and price, the most common question we get is... "when can you start?"

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I grew up with a passion for excellence and quality work. My father was a general contractor. He always said, it’s the work the home owner doesn’t see (behind the walls and under the sink) that makes all the difference in the long run. It's an adage that Advanced Renovations was built on.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I am a proud member of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), NKBA ( National Kitchen & Bath Association) and we are an EPA Certified Lead Safe remodeling firm. Make sure any contractor you hire is EPA certified. Its the law if your house was built before 1978.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. It doesn't matter what profession or job you choose, just be passionate about it! It will show in the quality of work or service that you provide. Do what you love and go that extra mile for each and every customer.
