Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The core of my business is family fun entertainment for fairs, festivals and special events. A close second would be as promotional entertainment for restaurants and my presentations for schools, park districts and libraries.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Make sure they have real experience working with the audience you are looking to entertain. There are some great performers out there that have no idea how to work with young audiences. Ask for references!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Show Business. Which word is bigger? The business is what many people don't think about. I have expenses and put a lot of time in, just like any other business. The show part is the product I offer.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. My many years of experience working with young audiences in schools, park districts, libraries and special recreation organizations. Also I have always had a good sense of customer service and relations as exhibited in my many years of work in hospitality and foodservice business promotions.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I offer a family fun magic experience. Not just a show to sit and watch, I encourage young audiences to interact and be part of the show, wiggling their fingers, clapping their hands and shouting the magic words! I also have some magic helpers up from the audience during the program. My balloon artistry is far and above the standard dogs, flowers and swords offered by many performers. I provide audiences with a wide variety of balloon creations!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Miles of smiles from young and old alike! The look of wonder and getting children (and grown ups too!) to laugh and have a good time.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Most customers ask how long I have been doing this? I have been a magician for over thirty years, never putting my magic sets away as a child and starting to perform for public audiences in my high school years. I have been creating balloon artistry for over twenty-five years and most audiences want to know how I learned and how I got to be so fast at making my creations.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. It's not the tricks that make the magician. It is how he/she presents them and how he/she interacts with the audience.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I never put my magic sets away as a child and have always had a fascination with variety entertainment.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I am coming up on my tenth year performing at the Brookfield Zoo's Holiday Magic Festival. During the month of December I perform there for several nights and love the audience interaction as several thousand people move through the festival each night. Many parents come up to tell me stories of how their children remember me and cherish their time at my shows from year to year. I also run into families during the rest of the year at other performances around the Midwest, that recognize me from this event.
