Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Make sure the company has a At rating and accredited with your local "BBB". Also, if your home was built before 1978 you need to make sure the company and crews are EPA certified for lead base paint. $37,500.00 fine if installation not performed correctly. See the insurance for liability and workman's compensation insurance.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. That I knew all of the guidelines about licensing and insurances. Using an uninsured person or company to do work on your home and have a claim. Your home owners insurance might not cover it and you could be personally sued for the money.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Make sure that the price includes everything and get it in writing. Make the contractor give you a detailed estimate (contract). Don't let them be vague because it could cost you a lot more money in the long run. Don't get caught up in the fake discount offers-they are all gimmicks!
