Kristy and Ian worked wonders on our little man, Blake. We brought Blake home to our other furry baby, Bella who is 7. They were not getting along at all. Bella was agitated by Blake's "puppy" behavior and Blake was ill mannered. Blake spent 5 days at Kristy and Ian's home. We CANNOT believe the amazing change in him! Blake has settled down considerably. He listens to commands, he does not bother Bella like he used to, he FINALLY sleeps through the night...but most importantly, Blake's screaming and howling when we are not in the room with him has stopped. We are absolutely amazed at the work Kristy and Ian have done with Blake! We went from frustrated puppy parents to happy puppy parents. In fact, we are setting up Bella’s time with Smart Dogs Training! We want Blake’s big sister to be a good example to him. We will recommend Smart Dogs Training to anyone who will listen!

We adopted Lady, our adorable 2 year old black lab from a local rescue. Lady is our first dog and while we were ready to experience many things, being leash reactive was not one of them. When our dog saw another dog while on leash, it was if she was possessed. We started walking her late at night or very early in the morning to avoid any potential confrontation with another dog. This was not a good plan, so we signed up for a group training class which not only didn't work, we were kicked out of the class because our dog was too disruptive. We then tried an in home trainer. That didn't work either. We then tried private lessons at a local pet store. You guessed it, that really didn't help either. My husband had mentioned checking out Smart Dogs several times, so I finally called them when I reached the end of my rope. The ad says you will see results after the first visit, and to our amazement we did! After our first session with Kristy we were so impressed, that we decided to go with the 10 day Lodge and Learn Program for Lady. We were very pleased with the positive behavior changes which took place. Kristy and Ian did a wonderful job training Lady. We now take Lady for a walk and are not fearful of running into another dog. In addition, Lady no longer pulls like a maniac when we take her for a walk. Now, it is a pleasure to walk her. Kristy and Ian truly understand dog behavior, and care about the dogs and the families that they work with.

My wife and I adopted Boomer a Border collie / Pit Bull mix 18 months ago when he was 10 months old. He is a great dog with a lot of energy. Boomer is fantastic with children and plays gently with our three grandsons ages, 20 months, 4 years and 7 years old, and any other children. Boomer just loves people in general. His only issue is leash aggression. I took Boomer to obedience classes just after we adopted him. He did not get along well with other dogs and I was told that we should consider getting rid of him. I saw the potential in Boomer with his gentleness with children so getting rid of him was not an option. I talked with three other trainers since then and one mentioned that I need a behaviorist to help with the aggression and not necessarily an obedience trainer. So my wife and I looked on the internet and we found Smart Dogs. Ian from Smart Dogs came out to our home, performed an evaluation and we began working immediately. I have followed Ian’s advice and the transformation is unbelievable. Boomer walks extremely well on the leash always a foot or two behind me. His aggression has calmed down considerably and gets better every time. I now look forward to a relaxing walk and no longer fear the presence of another dog. Boomer was also fence reactive with our neighbor’s German Shepard. I learned that Boomer is no longer reacting to her dog so I should be able to take down my temporary fence soon. But the real payoff came yesterday. Our grandsons were visiting and one of them opened the service door to the garage. During the excitement with the door open and kids running out, Boomer decided to charge into the garage and run through the open overhead door. He ran into the street, I started to panic but then I called his name and told him to come. He immediately stopped, turned around and came back to me and sat at my feet. Needless to say I was totally amazed, and relieved. I have never put Boomer to the test like that before. I cannot say enough about the help that we have received from Smart Dogs. In the past eight weeks, Boomer has become a better dog and my wife and I have become better dog owners. The stress of walking a reactive dog is nonexistent and we are confident the walks will be enjoyable. Regards: Brian Murphy

Kristy and Ian, Just wanted to confirm that you guys really know what you are doing, both in training the dogs and in helping their humans understand how to communicate better. My dogs, while pretty good, jumped when they were excited, pulled at the leash on walks, and only listened about half the time. I thought it was just their personalities! -Come to find out, I wasn’t demanding the alfa-dog role in the pack. Now, walks are a pleasure rather than a struggle. The jumping has been replaced by calm and loving “welcome home!” greetings. They’ve stopped barking at other dogs and bicycles on walks. –I wish I had known sooner just how easy it is to fix behavioral issues!! I recommend your program to anyone with a dog!!!! It’s sooooo worth it! Kris Henderson (Bear and Lilly)
