FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a member of the American Disc Jockey Association, we have monthly seminars that is always encouraged to participate in. With this membership, we also receive monthly journals which include innovations in equipment and business practices that have succeeded for others. I personally have researched other media sources and have networked with other businesses to provide the best entertainment experience possible for guests
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common jobs I perform at are weddings. I am able to invite potential clients to public venues to "Preview" musical mix styling for them since inviting clients to private functions is (in my eyes) unprofessional. Most of the venues that I perform at have a great kitchen, and I encourage my clients to come out early to enjoy dinner, and to experience how thier evening may start out. There is a difference between "doing a gig" and "performing at an event". I am passionate about DJing, and always give more than expected to my clients and their guests, and turning a party into an event. Strictly Music Chicago is not a large company that caters to volume sales. I am a single owner who has taken a part time hobby and expanded it to a quality driven business willing to work within your budget. My first price is just an estimate based on the initial information given.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check the other prices that you get from other DJs, and contact each business before you decide, you may be surprised on what you hear. Ask the same questions to each company and compare answers. A quality company should talk about what you would like for the event you have planned, not how much they spent on their latest mixer. Fancy equipment is nice for appearances, but do they know how to use it properly. Since you are looking for a music provider, ask where we get our music from. Music Subscriptions and paid digital download sites should be the preferred choice by DJs. If there is a problem with a song, you will hear it. Pirated music will most likely have poor quality sound or will be unreadable by your DJs choice of playback media. Education and experience should also be a key to for in a DJ. Low price could mean low confidence in their ability to perform at your event under pressure. Once again, Call each professional, and ask questions.
