Mr. Baldwin, a playwright, story writer and adjunct English instructor at several colleges and universities, has worked with grades 7-12 students for 23 years, at summer writing camps and for the Illinois Arts Council’s Artists-in-Education program. Many of his creative writing students have won local and national contests.

A. My work stands out from others because I am experienced, empathic and skilled. I am the only non-certified teacher to be named Chicago Drama Teacher of the Year, by Pegasus Theater, a local professional theater that sponsors a Young Playwrights Festival. Over half the winners and finalists of this playwriting competition were my students.
A. I enjoy working with and mentoring young people. It gives me great satisfaction to help a student find what is already, subconsciously locked within him/herself. There is no moment so satisfying as when a student "gets it". I am very happy and proud of the fact that I have many ex-students who, at ages 18-32, still keep in touch with me and share their lives.
