My name is Elizabeth, and I am on a short break from veterinary school to work and make some extra cash on the side working with animals. I am looking for animal parents who want the best care for their pets, and would like to make some extra student cash by offering my many services such as walking dogs, pet sitting, grooming, etc.

I have a mini doxie of my own at home. She's 2 and her name is Bella. She is my life, and I treat her as if she were one of my children. I also have a 4 month old kitten named Ellie. I also grew up having a doxie/yorkie mix who just passed away last fall. I've also owned many gerbils, mice, rabbits, critters, etc.

My Experiences:

1. I worked at Delavan Vet Clinic in Wisconsin 2008-2009, shadowing and working as a kennel attendant.
2. I finished one year at Argosy University for the Veterinary Technology program.
3. I also fostered dogs and cats for a rescue called Wags and Whiskers(MN) for a year.
4. I was previously employed at Petland as a kennel technician, working with all types of animals, giving shots and medications, as well as taking care of sick pets.
5. I worked at Glen Ellyn Animal Hospital for a season as a kennel assistant, and I walked dogs and took care of dogs that belonged to owners as well as rescue animals.
6. I took a course for animal CPR and rescue, so I know what to do in emergencies.
7. I currently work at Dupage Animal Hospital as a kennel technician and I am cross training, learning more about being a vet tech.

Dog walking:

I have the daytime off (before 3pm) to come by and let your dogs out as needed. If you work long hours and your pet is left alone, I offer my services to come let your dog out or walk them(whichever you prefer) and play with them for about an hour. I charge around $10-$20 a visit, depending on the size and number of dogs, and amount of time you would like me to stay.

Pet sitting:

I can watch any pet, from hamsters to snakes to dogs or cats. Just let me know what you have and how long you will be gone. I can work around either watching your pet at your house or having them stay at my house depending on the size of the animal and how many.

Special services:

* Nail trims - $6
* Bath - $10
* Ear cleaning - $5
* Drying/brushing - $5

You may request these extra services, and they can be done during the time I am watching your pet. If you would like to request a service separately, then that is accepted as well.

If you would like to tell me the dates that you would be gone ahead of time, just email me or call me. Include your name, number, pet's name and what kind, how many, dates you're gone, extra services or if you just need walking or boarding.

I can also distribute medications, ointments, special feeding instructions or extra care for elderly pets. My home is welcome to all friendly, happy, healthy pets.

I will call you back as soon as possible, and we can set up a time to meet.
I am very trust worthy and you know I will give the best care to your pet because of all the experience I have.

I have many references as well if needed.

    Lizzy has taken care of my Cairn Terrier Charlie. She did a great job. With her past experience in pet care, I felt that I could really trust my little guy in her hands. He was happy when I picked him up and exhausted that night (which means she gave him plenty of exercise!!) I endorse Lizzy's pet services to the fullest! She is sweet, kind and trustworthy. Thank you Liz!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I most commonly go for jobs that have ANYTHING to do with animals. They make me smile and put me in a great mood all day. Thats what a job is about, loving what you do each day. I mostly work with walking dogs, pet sitting, giving medications or injections to animals while working in a clinic, and helping volunteer at local animal shelters.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Personally, Ive worked at many animal hospitals and have talked to many animal boarding kennels throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Not to my surprise, prices are ridiculously over priced. I'm all for trying to help out fellow americans get by other than paying way to much money to just have your beloved pet sit in a small, metal, scary cage with dogs barking 24/7. You dont really know whos taking care of your pets while your gone and when I worked for the hospitals I treated each animal as if it were my own. So I decided to share my love and compassion for everyones pets right through my home for a more relaxing, spacious, and friendly atmosphere. You save money and your pets get full hour attention and love.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Ive know since I was little that I wanted to work with animals and give them the full care and attention they deserve. In the end we both win :)

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Being around animals puts me in a good mood

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. They commonly ask me about lowering my prices or negotiating with them. I almost always try and go with what fits their price range the best, and Its not only for you and your pets benefit to have someone care for them, its also very rewarding for me.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My favorite animal I was proudly able to rescue was my old kitten, Miley. A coworker found her in a box, abandoned n south minneapolis. I took her in and she became best friends with my Bella. I got too attached because she was the sweetest kitten Ive ever met. Now that I live in Chicago, my best friend has her in the suburbs and they are like two peas in a pod. Its an amazing feeling that I was able to get such a beautiful, life deserving kitty into a safe home where she will be loved, and probably spoiled ;) for the rest of her precious life.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. If you come to me for boarding or special services such as nail trims and/or baths.. its way cheaper than your ordinary vet clinic or grooming prices. I try to make it easier for people by not having to make appointments and my hours are easy to work around
