Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Having an idea or a vision is a wonderful start for hiring a graphic designer, though not always necessary. It also helps to have examples of what you like or don't like visually. Don't be afraid to speak your mind about what you want but keep in mind that graphic designers are professionally trained in visual communication.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. There is a lot of research and training that is involved in the graphic design field. Many people believe design is something that 'just makes things look pretty' but it's more about communication and really speaking to an audience and having a visual conversation.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Always ask about prices and discuss budgets. Let the designer know what you're looking for on a broader spectrum. If you're looking to redesign your website for example, think of the goals and things you hope to achieve by doing this. Perhaps you're looking to expand your target audience. Let the designer know this! There could be other or additional solutions that could be implemented.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Think about what you want, visual styles you like or don't like, your target audience and what you hope to achieve.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Being able to work with other business owners is an amazing amount of fun. I enjoy helping their businesses grow and learning about what they do. The variety in my field is fantastic and it's exciting to be able to work on several different projects at once.
