Mr. Stinson came out to review the damage to the house 5 days ago but has not provided a quote for the work as promised. Although he built the house it is doubtful I will hire him to make the needed repairs.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Like the opening statement says, we do alot of additions that will contain new kitchens, master bedrooms and baths, or anything the customer wants. When we do 2 story additions, they generally double the square footage of a home and contain 3 or more beedrooms and 2 or more baths. We do all remodeling projects and new construction projects, from a bath remodel, to large new custom homes.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The advice I give my prospective customers is, Hire some one you like and trust, and with references, because on larger jobs, you get to know one another, actually become freinds, and if you don't trust some one, you won't feel at ease having them in your home. The references are a proven track record of their performance. Be sure to verify the references. You might be talking to the fella's Mom or girlfreind.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I have alot of experience in all phases of construction, where as I have concentrated on doing the best work available, most people I know in the trades felt that if you collect the final payment, you have done a good job. Nothing could be further from the truth. I pay attention to the details so that my work stands out from the rest, and the customer get a superior ptoduct.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love my job because when you build things you can really see what you have done. It is self rewarding and feels like you have accomplished something good. I like hard work.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. I would say that the most asked question from customers is " are you experienced and are you honest? ". Well, my answer to that is " Yes ", and " Yes ".It's that easy.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Well, many years ago I was in Eastern Indiana where I was hired buy another general contractor to jack up and stabilize a roof that had evidently been damaged by an earthquake a long time ago. My jack was not long enough so I had it sitting on a tire and an empty bucket of tar inside the room. The boss came in and said " Dayne, that tar might bust and go all over the place. I missunderstood him and said, " Jim, I really don't think that tire is going any where. " Eventually we found out that because of our accents, tire and tar sound exactly the same. Plenty funny at the time.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Well, a long story short, I worked in the mail room at the Saturday Evening Post Co. for 1 year, then drove a delivery truck for HP Chemical for 1 year. Then a freind asked me if I wanted to install floor covering, so I did that for 9 months. Another freind asked me if I wanted to start roofing with him. As we did many roof jobs, I felt that I could build these new homes better than the ones we were roofing, So I learned to frame, and the rest I picked over the years by being a builder, remodeling general, and so on.
