- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do your homework. Just because a teacher has a band or can play well himself does not guarantee that he can teach. The ability to teach is a gift and many great players cannot teach their way out of a paper bag. The best way to find a good teacher is to ask someone who is taking lessons and loving it.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Playing music is a deeply personal and emotional experience. Musicians do not like to be asked to perform at will - especially as a "test" - as this feels disrespectful and demeaning. Unless a musician is on stage and asking for "requests", or you know the person well, please ask respectfully if you would like to hear something played. Most will graciously comply with your request if it doesn't feel like a demand or a contest of greatness.
