FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am always involved in continuing education. Each year I attend -- and present at -- some of the top industry conferences. I also am faculty for trainer certification, so I am teaching trainers as well.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Training pet manners and solving behavior problems in dogs and other animals. Our convenient and flexible scheduling, often in the client's own home, both allows us to work with the behavior in its own environment and makes it easy for the client to keep up the training himself!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The training industry is really evolving right now, which is both wonderful and a bit confusing! There is no licensing body for trainers, so you have to do your research to make sure you get one who is educated and qualified to do the work. Look for certifications such as KPACTP, CPDT, etc., and beware of silly designations without real meaning such as "master trainer." Look for a trainer who is very involved in the field -- writing educational material, teaching workshops, etc. -- and who has regular continuing education. Most importantly, remember that you are your pet's advocate, and NEVER permit a trainer to handle your pet in a way which makes you uncomfortable. If a trainer can't help you to be successful without techniques you can't replicate or feel good about, that trainer can't help you.
