Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When researching photographers, look at color, composition and most important, that the subjects in the image are relaxed and natural.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. It doesn't matter how much state of the art equipment a photographer has, the most important skill is relating to people. If he or she cannot, they will not be able to bring out the best in you or anyone else in your images.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How many years have you been an experienced photographer?

For weddings, how many years experience do they have photographing weddings? (This is very different from portrait photography. Your wedding photographer will be with you ALL day. They need to know how to document everything you want in a respectful way.)

What equipment do you use?

How experienced are your assistant shooters?

Are you insured?

Along with sample image galleries, ask to view images from a complete wedding/portrait session gallery.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. I like to sit down with clients and talk through what type of look they are going for, but if I had to list two things they would be this:

How will the images be used? For example: web, brochure, enlargement, album, etc...

What do you want the images to convey? For example: confident business owner, emotions of an event, friendly personality, etc...

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I relate well to people. You can see it in the relaxed images of my clients.

I've also been at it longer than most.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. What I like about my job most is getting to experience the most joyous and accomplished times in my clients lives.
