Question and answer

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What kinds of projects have you worked on?

How soon can you begin? How accessible are you?

How much do you charge? Do you charge by the hour, by the project, or by retainer?

What kind of results can I expect?

Will my relationships be improved as a result of your coaching?

Will your coaching improve my finances?

How is a Communication Coach different than a Life Coach?

What are your limitations?

Are you a published writer?

Do you have public speaking experience?

Do you have teaching experience?

Do you have editing experience?

Do you have experience in the world of business?

What is your coaching style?

Will you listen to me?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Thorough, accurate, interesting design work from a word smith with artistic talent who has business experience and a passion for pleasing clients.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Communication Coaching allows me to utilize my varied experiences (teaching, writing, editing, insurance, legal, campaigning) and education (MA in Communication). I noticed that teachers often also coach and thought about what I might be able to coach, then came up with Communication. I love working with clients.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I belong to Groups on Linkedin that are pertinent to what I do, and I often turn to YouTube to figure out how to do something technical/computer-related. There is a certain amount of creativity and intuitiveness in Communication Coaching, making it more of a self-directed profession. Experience seems more beneficial to me than formal classroom time. Actually, the Internet has changed the format of the learning process, allowing us to learn from one another without being in a classroom. I may take some computer programming courses ... just because I wish to learn some computer languages; although, many templates are set up to make such courses unnecessary for website designers.
