FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Fees start at $30 without face to face engagement, but I will often request more information (photos, dimensions, provenance, condition, etc) to decide if we should move forward before fees are incurred. Be ready to talk about the item and you should have it nearby so that you can answer questions while we are on the phone together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every appraisal should be completed by an appraiser that can provide priceless knowledge in the field of appraising. However, before one is capable of producing an "official" court for Insurance or the IRS appraisal, the appraiser must pass the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and they must be trained and briefed in many areas of personal property appraisal. Including, but not limited to fine art, design, luxury collectables, antiques, residential contents and expert witness skills. They also agree to adhere to the ethics and conduct codes of their affiliated appraisal association.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I use to run a gallery and have collected art myself for many years.
