Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When it comes to providing quality video production service, there is no substitute for experience. Owning a HD camera doesn't qualify one to communicate a message, and that's the ultimate goal of any production.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. As with many industries, much of the service fee in video production is for overhead expenses. So my advice is to ask yourself if you want to pay for visiting a swanky editing suite, or concentrate your dollars on getting the best product possible for the price. Small companies, like mine, are focusing on these customers.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How much experience do you have in producing a product for my audience?
Do you have a complete gear package that includes an HD camera, quality tripod, HD field monitor, audio recording equipment, lights and grip gear?
Do you carry liability insurance?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. I service a variety of clients, including broadcasters, corporate clients, government agencies, and non-profits.
So, budgets have a wide range. But, usually a day of shooting broadcast quality HD video starts at $1000 and goes up from there. It's easy to get sticker-shock on an estimate if you are unfamiliar with our industry.
