My PC Tech destroyed my brand new $900 PC and refused to do anything about it. I was a first time PC builder and I could not get my new PC to turn on. The reason why is because I had a floppy drive power cable plugged into the motherboard causing a short. (I bought a good power supply that could detect the short and would not power on.) I brought it in to My PC Tech for a free diagnostic. I explained to them that I had never built a PC before and I wasn’t sure if it was hooked up correctly. At first the technician said the power supply was dead, in fact it just wouldn’t come on as a safety function because it could detect the short. The Technician then hooked up his own power supply to the main motherboard power, flipped the switch and smoked the whole thing, literally. There was a black trial on the motherboard leading to the cable that should not have been plugged in. I asked is that supposed to be there? To which he replied Ohh no its not, that’s probably what it was. Without the cable plugged in my own power supply came right on but it was too late as the rest of the PC was fried. They refused to do anything at all about and said, “it’s not our responsibility to see if you hooked up right” even though my first words after walking through the door were “I’ve never built a pc before and I’m not sure if I did it Right.” Now I’m out $900 and all that needed to be done was have a real professional take one look at the open PC and say, Hears your problem, this wire isn’t supposed to go there.
My PC Tech's reply
There are always two sides for every argument and discussion. We are respectfully, refusing to get into a “war of words” because one side is not always right. I just like to add one last comment. Why would someone bring a good working computer to a computer shop for repairs?????????. My PC Tech
