We called on a Monday afternoon for an estimate on interior painting. Dave came out that night to give us an estimate and started Wednesday morning and finished by noon on Thursday. The work came out beautifully and we were impressed with the clean lines painted freehand where the wall meets the baseboards and crown molding.

David and his crew painted all of our old picture windows throughout our house (inside and out). They painted all our chipped and peeling soffit/facsia as well as some weathered doors. David was great to work with and easy to talk to about our large painting project. As with any large job, there were additional items that needed painted that we missed in the original scope of work (including some trimwork needed on old, rotting wood), but David was happy to add them to their tasks and priced everything accordingly. David introduced me to his crew and made sure he was on-site during the work, something I appreciate after working with many contract companies. I would recommend David for any and all painting for my friends and family.

David Shill gave us a bid to prep and paint our house. He requested $800 to begin the job. I made the mistake of giving him $1000 in good faith. He agreed to repair and replace rotten wood around window before trimming. It was written in the contract. He agreed to replace Hardie board planks on the siding and he agreed to replace the rotten soffit. His cousin Buster showed up to work and put up trim right over the rotten wood he promised to replace. Buster tried to replace the Hardie boards but used too short of fasteners (1/2 staples) so the boards are loose and buckled. He replaced the upper soffit but left 1" gaps that leaves the roof vulnerable to pest and looks unprofessional. He replaced 1/3 of the rotted soffit above the entrance. There are 1/2" gaps and an unlevel seam. It looks awful. When David showed up to see what our complaint was, he said we miscommunicated with him. He didn't realize we wanted a better job done on our house. He said the hardie boards are loose because there are no studs to nail to. (The studs are 30" on center with 6" faces. It's hard to miss them if you have the right length of fasteners.) basically it was our fault. He said he would make it right. He said we should go see the house on St Charles he was working on. So we did. The construction work was shoddy there as well. The warning was not built to code and the load bearing header beams we're attached by sitting on a screw on the side of the beams, not sitting on top of the beams for strength. We were told that's how they do it here in New Orleans. When I pointed out the neighbors properly constructed porch, David's reply was this isn't permitted, and the owner wants it this way. My husband then asked why a 4' hardie board Plank was so unlevel. David's response was the owner bought that board and said to use it. So if you want to be blamed for David Shills un-professionalism and shoddy work, then by all means hire him. He'll dazzle you with BS. I asked for 1-2 my money back. David said he was into the job for $150 in Materials and $350 for labor for the day of work. I have to redo everything he did. I've asked for $350 back. He refuses, and he refuses to give me an invoice accounting for the $1000 I have him. He says I broke a contract. I cut my losses.

Ms. Sharon, I tried my best to work with you on pricing from the get-go. I worked in good-faith and tried saved you money, my first quote for your work $4875 however, we worked on it and got it down $500 to a total price of $4375. We got the deposit from you and we did a walk through with you and rediscussed the contract, we let you know the wood on the roof was rotten and you told us you didn't want to replace the wood and just put wood over it. You informed us you and your husband were going to do the porch and stairs. We got your okay on everything we did, you even told us we were doing a good job on the trim while we were completing it. If you saw something that wasn't right and wanted to change it you should have told us then, not waited till after it was done. We always check with our customers after every task we complete, we want to make sure we're doing something right and if were told we need to fix something we will, if something needs to be made right we are more than happy to go the extra mile, as we did with you. You told me to come over to talk and instantly began yelling at me, I offered you your money back and you didn't want it. I then offered to fix it for free with no labor charge and you buy the material, you purchased 25 T1-11 sheets for $40 each, that would have be redoing everything. I would have lost $2800 in labor... Then you said of those 25 sheets you only wanted to use 2. What? How did you get from 25 all the way down to 2? You were truly the boss of me and my crew and in control. I tried my best to work with you and you never gave me the opportunity to make things right. We completed one day of work how you told us to, then the next day you wanted to change things. Regarding the other job site you came to. One board there was crooked, which we discovered after painting, we offered to change it for the homeowner and he said because it was only one board there was no need. You were more critical of that than the homeowner! You also choose to paint your trim the same color as that job. After you seeing that job I offered your money back, you refused and said to make your house as beautiful as that one, you told us you would see us soon. You texted us 3 days later, which was after we bought additional materials that was the text that was informing our services were no longer needed - I lost $1500 because of this situation. I'm truly sorry that this situation occurred. Please take a look at the job she references in her review, 7700 Saint Charles Avenue, and don't hold this one negative review against me.
