Mary teaches more than the classical piano technique that is very common with lesser instructors. If you or your child are serious about not just learning how to play, but learning how music is created today and especially if you or your child intends to go to a Music College like Berklee College of Music, then Mary is the instructor for you. Mary teaches her students how to turn a standard chord chart into a interesting listenable arrangement with just the piano through essential techniques such as Voice Leading and Basslines. These are tools that any musician needs to have in their toolbox if they expect to perform any modern music (and by modern I mean blues, jazz, rock & roll, etc.) in a band setting. Do no mis-understand... Mary teaches classical piano as well and she will be a stickler for technique, but where she goes beyond what most classical piano teachers can do is that she can turn you into a professional musician or get you ready to go to college, which unless you intend to become a professional classical pianist for a symphony, is what most students should be learning. She gives voice lessons as well... which by the way I sang with her in a choir and she's a very good singer, you could learn from worse. She learned her technique from a very good instructor and I have no doubt that she can teach you as well and as a bonus she will make it fun.

Mary taught my son to love playing the piano. He was losing interest with his classical teacher, and she opened up a world of theory that was fun and rewarding for him. He was able to use that theory in playing the music he so enjoyed, including classical, jazz and rock. With the strong background in theory and technique that Mary provided him, my son went on to play Jazz Piano at the Hartt School of Music at University of Hartford, and continues to play in his band throughout New York City and Connecticut. We highly recommend Mary for a Piano Instructor. She is fun and engaging, and teaches in such a way that her students find a love for studying music. Thanks Mary!!!

A very talented vocalist and excellent pianist. Mary's musical talents are deep, and honest - she is a real musician, with a solid foundation of musical knowledge. Her own music is true to her soul and powerful - something lacking today with so many performers. Excellent to work with professionally, and quite a superb teacher.

My 2 daughters & husband took piano lessons with Mary. Mary made it fun for them. They loved it, she was patient, thorough & highly skilled in all aspects of music. I would highly recommend her as a teacher +++++++++ excellent teacher

Mary is a unique teacher as she combines classical technique repetoire with jazz studies and pop music. She's enthusiastic and engaged and has a very unique way of opening the door for kids to jazz world.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are paid by the month. 1 lesson per week. I offer make up lessons to accommodate cancellations whenever possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had continuing education with a 6 time Grammy nominated pianist, Lots of choral work,( including public performances ), Classical voice study, as well as recording/performing my own music, past and presently. As of recent, one of my pop compositions/recording was voted Top Band Boston,in the Hard Rock Rising global contest for the Hard Rock Cafe's around the world.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I saw the need, as a self taught student in the beginning myself, to be targeted as an individual artist, with individual needs.This prompted me to do this for others who seek to enhance their natural talents.
