I used GaudeandGold hair and makeup services for my wedding. Calvina came to my house several weeks in advance for a trial run. At the time, I had no idea as to how I wanted to wear my hair. After showing Calvina my wedding dress and veil, she was able to come up with the perfect hairstyle that was simple yet extremely elegant; exactly what I was looking for. Because Im not big on makeup, I knew that I wanted a natural look, which she was able to achieve with no problems. Being that Im the hardest person in the world to please when it comes to makeup, I was extremely impressed that I had no changes once it was complete. I was extremely happy that the day of the wedding, Calvina was able to recreate the look. She did such a fantastic job. I was so happy with the way everything turned out on my big day, I would highly recommend Calvina for all your hair and make up needs. She really helped me to feel like a princess.

After Calvina Strothers had a career as a Newbury street stylist, she left to start her own company Gaude and Gold. With a ton of locations around the country, Calvina has done high fashion hair and makeup. All of this I didnt realize until I was in her chair. You would never know it. She was so calm and relaxed. She listened to what I wanted. She was on so nice and dealt with my crazy family. My hairstyle looked amazing! I have naturally curly hair thats super frizzy, and she made long ringlets fit for a wedding. Her prices were very reasonable. If you are a fabulous bride that wants the queen experience, you must go with Calvina, owner of Gaude and Gold. wedding 11/5/11

Calvina doesn't just "do" hair, she takes care of your hair. I have been going to her for 3 months (longer than I've ever stayed with any hair care professional) and she's gotten my hair to be healthier, stronger and longer! I love going to Calvina because she does an excellent job. She really cares and it shows...she answers questions, suggests products and takes time to explain how to care for your hair in between appointments.

Calvina is awesome! Don't hesitate to have her do your make up. She did mine for a pre- wedding function and I got many compliments at the event. I was so pleased, i had her come back the next day to do my make up for the wedding--again a super job!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently was a key hair and make-up artist for the NYE Gala at the Calderwood pavilion hosted by miss Maine and miss Massachusetts..It was very exciting
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Picture, picture, pictures.. I know times are tight and i have noticed a lot of people are hiring students to service them for weddings and other events and most students dont have a portfolio and more than likely not much experience. So my advice would be to always ask to see their work and never hire a student to practice on you on your wedding unless they have a port!
