Introduction: I teach one-on-one weekly guitar lessons out of my loft in Fort Point in South Boston Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I teach at Mass Ave Music on Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays just outside Union Square in Somerville MA. I offer half-hour, forty-five-minute, one-hour and two-hour lessons. For rates and dates, shoot me an email. I am Berklee Graduate and Berklee Faculty member! Styles Include: Rock (pentatonic licks, phrasing, bends, songs) Punk (Down Picking, Chuck Berry Licks and More) Blues (intros, tunarounds, major and minor pentatonic soloing ideas, rhythm playing) Country (3rds, 6ths, intros and endings, Travis picking, pedal steel bends, single note runs) Folk (finger picking, chords, songs) Surf (Tremelo Picking, Learn to get a deep tone) Metal (alternate picking, sweeping, string skipping, tapping, legato techniques, speed exercises, crazy harmonics, rhyyjm and drop d playing, 4-3-2-1 chops builder method I created myself) Roots, americana (finding cool guitar parts buried within the song, utilizing all your experience and techniques, to come up with the coolest guitar part, when to play and when not to play) Funk/R&B (rhythm exercises and development of pocket playing) And a whole lot more Learn : Harmony (theory, chord construction, re-harm techniques, sub V's, modal ideas) Ear training (through song transcription and exercises) Songwriting (harmonic and melodic development, lyric writing and arranging) fret-board mechanics (mastery of the fret-board) and more... Below are what my students say: "I've been playing the guitar for 10 or so years, and I was very proud of the fact that I have never taken any lessons. However, for the past few years, I've found myself stuck playing the same patterns, chords and solos over and over again. I watched a great friend of mine go from being a pretty mediocre (hey, he'll be the first to admit it!) guitarist to being able to rip through any Clapton solo and Sultans of Swing after taking some lessons with Tony, so I figured I'd give it a shot. After only a few lessons, I found myself moving around the fretboard with much more confidence, and I was playing things I never thought I'd be able to play. Whether you're a crusty old seasoned cocky guitar player like myself or someone who's just getting started, Tony will give you the chops you need." - Bennett Kolasinski "Tony is patient, encouraging and entertaining; he rocks! Never having prior lessons, all I expected was to learn one song, but he's helped me to surpass that goal and to appreciate more about music than I had ever imagined. I always leave the guitar lesson happier than when I walked in!" - Sherri Smith "When you take lessons with Tony, you're not just taught chords, so you can play a Van Halen or a Nirvana riff. You're taught the fundamentals in a way that you become familiar and almost in tune with your guitar. If you find any other knucklehead that can do that, I'll pay for your lessons. Actually, I won't, but you should take lessons with Tony anyway. He's that good." - Jessica Green "Tony kicks the most ass of any guitar teacher out there. He is patient and encouraging, but in no time will have you playing things you didn't think you could play. He will give you a good music foundation while letting you learn the music you like the most. If you're serious about playing guitar, he's the man." - Ami E Albernaz "I've studied under four different guitar teachers, and Tony is the first one that's been able to clearly explain how the different parts - key signature, chord progressions, scale patterns, picking technique - all fit together. My first lesson was six weeks ago, and the guys in my band have already noticed a huge difference." - Glen Goland "I have been going to Tony for lessons since this past spring, and my playing has improved tremendously. He has helped me work on my left-hand technique, improve my picking, introduced me to new approaches to playing various types of licks and has helped me with my approach to learning other artist's songs. On top of that, Tony is an excellent teacher, an amazing player and extremely easy to get along and work with" - David Schwartz "Tony is a wonderful teacher. I've only been taking lessons with him for three months and had never touched a guitar before. Now, I'm starting to play my favorite songs! Not only do I learn the techniques and theory but also how to develop an ear for the music which is amazing, considering I had always thought I was tone deaf. Tony keeps me motivated; he is patient, yet perceptively authoritative. Also, his irresistible Sicilian wit makes the whole thing so much fun!" - Anneke Boese "If you're looking for an instructor who will take you to the next level based on where you are musically, Tony is your man. He has a great talent for identifying and teaching you what you need to get where you want to go." - Dave Yanolis
