The Instructor
"Instrutora Sereia" (Jennifer Walsh), the founder of ABADA-Capoeira Boston, is the top-ranked, non-Brazilian female in all of ABADA-Capoeira, which now has over 40,000 practicing members.
She has been practicing capoeira since 1993 and comes from a background in dance and athletics. She is known for her exquisite technique and natural teaching capacity. She also is a certified crossfit strength and conditioning coach.
What is Capoeira?
Capoeira (pronounced ka-poo-eyh-da) is an afro-Brazilian martial art form that incorporates self-defense, acrobatics, dance, percussion, and songs in a rhythmic dialogue of body, mind, and spirit.
It is a communal game in which two opponents play each other inside a circle, formed by the other players who create rhythm for the game by clapping, singing, and playing traditional instruments.
The two opponents compete with each other using capoeira movements, camouflaging the self-defense kicks and moves with playful acrobatics and dance-like moves spontaneously, creating strategy to fool their opponent and catch them off guard.
Capoeira Classes
Capoeira classes provide vigorous training in the ABADA-Capoeira technique. It is a mental, musical, and physical workout. New students can start at any time. There are no prerequisites; you simply need the desire to show up and do your best. Classes are structured to meet all levels.

Give new or advanced students a chance to focus on improving specific skills based on their own individual needs and interest.
Strength and Conditioning Sessions
Geared to meet you where you're at and to take you to the next level, I will design a training program that will get you fitter and keep you healthy, so you can continue to stay active and engaged in the things you love.
Training programs can include aspects of mobility work, strength work, metabolic conditioning, nutrition, and recovery, depending on your needs. Whether you're a martial artist or a mom, I can make you perform, look, and feel better.
