Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Do you guys really offer a 10 year warranty?? The last contractor offered a 1 year warranty ... Yes at Capital Construction we offer a 10 year warranty on any complete roof installation project.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I dont but a recent customer submitted this review: The two man Capital Construction crew were highly professional and extremely efficient and completed the job in one day. This compared very favorably with other contractors, most of whom had estimated about three days for the work for a lot more money, also requiring that all materials to be moved up or down to the roof go through the narrow interior stairwells of the dwelling. Capital used exterior ladders for this and for the staging and were completely non-intrusive -- a big plus in my view. The final result looks very good!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Unfortunately Roofing and Masonry carry high insurance cost, Always cover yourself and dont hire the cheapest contractor without first looking at the contractors insurance coverage.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Capital Construction has been in the Construction trade for over ten years.It is a family operated Boston based business...It's in our blood....

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I recently finished a project in Brookline, This is what the customer had to say: Responsive and responsible epitomize David Arrowsmith and his team at Capital Construction. We had several jobs for Capital Construction ranging from masonry work on our chimney to carpentry work on a side entrance/deck. We began by employing Capital Construction to come up with a solution to our water problem. Basically we needed to keep the water away from the foundation of the house. They completed that project in a matter of hours for short dollars but were very clear in telling us it was a one-to-two year solution at best. As a result of their work, the foundation is water-free for now. A week later we realized we had a problem with our chimney. We got three estimates, all of which were pretty close in price. The difference: David was the only person who took the time to actually climb up his ladder and venture onto the roof to inspect the problem up close. When he came down with photos it was clear what needed to be done. But before going further with him, he insisted I check out other chimneys they had built and emailed a series of photos. The project took a tad longer than originally anticipated, but David was constantly in communication with the mason and myself. In fact, there were several days when David came by unannounced to inspect the progress of the job. I was impressed with how easy it was to get ahold of David and I appreciated his professionalism. The crew used our driveway for staging and made a bit of a mess, but when they left, the driveway looked cleaner than before they arrived - and believe me that's saying something. We also hired David to clean-up the mess on our side entrance left by an irresponsible contractor, who left the side of the house exposed to water, causing leaks in our basement. David's carpenters came in removed portions of the deck in order to get to the problem and then rebuilt their section all in a day. Not only are the leaks gone, but the deck looks better and is more secure

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. December 20, 2010 Approximate Cost: $2,500.00 Description Of Work / Customer review: We have had several interactions with David and Capital Constructions and they have all been excellent. In general they have always been professional, accomodating, helpful, and have provided very reasonable estimates.

This specific review is with regard to replacement windows. We had Capital Construction replace 7 windows in our Condo this December.Member Comments: Overall we are extremely happy with the job. Capital found the windows we wanted that met standards for the 2010 tax break and were overall high quality windows at a very reasonable price.

The came on time and finished the project exactly when they said they would. The were courtious and professional during the job. The cleaned up everything (inside and outside) perfectly. They repainted the window trim to fix any scuffs. They even re-hung our blinds (they would not fit in the same brackets because they are a different type of window) without our asking. They did a quality job on the installation and we are very happy with the result.

Overall this project was absolutely no hassle on our end and we are extremely pleased with the result. We also feel the price was reasonable.

A. Contracting is not for everyone, Make sure you are fully licensed, Fully insured, referred and be prepared for hefty start up costs.

A. Post a recent customer review - Very pleasant group to work with. We had a persistent leak in our front porch roof, and the first company who came in made it worse. Capitol returned a couple of times, trying different strategies (short of a new entire roof) to repair a leak. In the end, the leak started way up the roof, so we decided to get a new one. The roof is tight and beautiful. The guys were very professional, and we are pleased to be able to recommend them to anyone needing roof work. I just wish they did kitchens too!
