Introduction: We offer a studio in an old schoolhouse in Hadley, MA, which boasts of a beautiful, quiet country setting. We charge $25/hour with Jim Matus as the producer. The studio has 24-track Alesis HD24 system, 2 Neuman microphones, 2 charter Oak microphones plus other great mics, isolation booth, drum room, in-house guitar and bass amps, vintage 1971 marshal super lead, great pre-amps, and vintage Urei limiter. You can record live or track-by-track. We have over 20 years of experience with all types of music. Jim Matus has produced hundreds of recordings in his production facilities in New York, Hartford and now, Hadley. His studio at Artspace became one of the major studios in the Hartford area. Jim played in and co-produced the successful Hartford band, Mr. Right, with Jim Chapdelaine. He produced Paranoise’s albums, Private Power and Ishq (which was up for a Grammy in the world music category in 2001), for his own label, Ancient Records. He has recorded many New England artists, and has produced CDs of Greek, Mexican, Peruvian, Indian, Latvian and other “world music” projects. Experienced in everything from metal to folk and jazz recording, Jim lends his ears to many diverse projects with consistent results. As a composer, experimental musician and improviser himself, Jim will always push the envelope and get unique performances out of any musician he works with. He has worked in the studio with world-class musicians, such as Don Cherry, Anthony Jackson, Percy Jones, Thurston Moore, Steve Marcus, Al Anderson and Gary Windo. He has played as a studio musician for Hugh Hopper (legendary bass player for Soft Machine) and played live with drum guru, Dave Weckl. His experimentations with Middle Eastern fusion band, Mawwal, have won him critical praise internationally Their recent CDs include "Black Flies" and "This Is All There Is". “Jim Matus has taken the style that Peter Gabriel made so famous a few years back and taken it a step further.” (EXPOSE) Jim Matus studied guitar and composition at Berklee College of Music and privately with Pat Metheny and John Scofield.
