Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I believe teaching is an equal partnership where both student and teacher interact and feed off each other. Both sides are constantly challenged - the student has to digest new materials while he or she motivate the teacher to break down new information and techniques in a creative way. As both sides grow and get better at this partnership, they constantly re-visit the crucial “basics” with a new light and fresh perspective.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I wish I could know the extent of the experience of any teacher. Degrees, Diplomas or any other titles are not enough. After being on the field for many years, you develop problem solving techniques and you tailor an approach which is unique for each individual.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Well, you want to know their basic credentials. After all, your teacher should be competent and well educated in the rudiments of music. Each student will have different points of interests and different questions according to their interest. You probably want to know about their teaching approach and find out their aptitude to break down the information in an intelligent manner. The student wants to make sure the teacher will also expose them to new approaches, styles or information they might not be aware of.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. This is a mutual collaboration, both parties have to respect each other, the teacher needs to provide support and the student needs to practice.

Testimonials

Maurice has been my daughter's guitar teacher for the last seven years. My daughter was 9 years old when she started playing and she is now 16. She is just as fascinated by the musical journeys that Maurice takes her on today as she was the day she started playing classical guitar.

What sets Maurice appart is his ability to inspire my daughter to stick with the practice, try new pieces and styles encompassing everything from classical, jazz to contemporary Brazilian. He also incorporates music theory into his lessons.

Maurice motivates, challenges and give just the right stretch assignment to keep every lesson fresh and inspiring.

In addition, Maurice is very flexible with his time and is a delight to meet and talk with.

I give Maurice the my warmest recommendations.

Maurice is the most wonderful teacher! My son and I started lessons together when he was about 10; now that he is in college I am continuing my classical guitar studies with Maurice. He has a way of encouraging while challenging his students that creates an exciting and positive atmosphere for learning. I highly recommend him to beginning or experienced students of guitar.
