Marc is unbelievably skilled in so many areas - you are getting a fantastic musician, arranger, producer, songwriter, and more all rolled into one! He truly listens to your ideas and takes them as well as his expertise to bring your project to the next level. I would definitely recommend using Marc and Mach 10 Music on your next project!"
---Stacey Peasley, regarding the production of "Together" in 2011
"Marc Soucy is a highly skilled arranger and producer with whose work I've been very impressed. I recently worked on a project of his, Stacey Peasley's Together, and it was one of the most enjoyable children's albums I've ever heard. Marc's arrangements are extremely musical and his sensibilities are exceptional."
---Jeff Lipton, mastering engineer, Peerless Mastering
"I am a songwriter and arranger. I have always been serious about making my songs sound their absolute best. I was aware that my productions needed work though, to be taken more seriously out in the music marketplace. ... We have communicated very well. Marc has always been sensitive to my wishes, and result has been fantastic! He balanced his own judgment and experience with my vision, to produce something I would not have done otherwise. I am very happy."
---Hayden Manwaring (Miracle in the Making), Utah
"Marc Soucy is a phenomenal talent who understands his clients' needs, delivers on them, and is willing to go that extra mile. My experience with Marc has been extremely satisfying, and the songs he and I worked on have been an incredible joy to me."

Question and answer
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Where are you at with your project?
i.e. exactly what do you feel is needed?
Do you want me to give you feedback about what's needed?
How will you deliver what you have (audio or video) to me for evaluation, or to work on: cd-rom/dvd, mp3 attachment, "YouSendIt" type services, cassette (yes I still can accomodate that), etc...
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. My music tends to be dramatic and assertive, though sometimes more romantic or ambient when it calls for it. I do truly original music that stands out from the rest. No cookie cutter productions, and everything is custom tailored to achieve your goal. Two way communication is very important in this endeavor, but I also try to use my expertise to remove any needless complications for you.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Sheer creativity, and achieving the exact emotional message that the project calls for. That goes for music for video, or professional songwriting.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Honestly, the most asked question is what are my rates.
Hourly Rate: $45
We always communicate clearly about what is needed, and no work is done until we are in agreement about what is to be done.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. That when you hire me, you are truly getting a partner who wants you to achieve YOUR goals, not just a studio you book by the hour. The results, once we identify them, are much more assured because of my attitude about what I'm doing.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I started piano lessons at age three. That sounds unbelievable, but my parents decided that it was OK. I didn't stop until I was 14, when I discovered that I could compose my own music, and even learned to improvise. Much later, after quite a few years working in the business world, I decided to go back to my roots, and do music production full time. That was in 1997, and I haven't stopped since.
Q. What are your most common types of jobs?
A. Visit my website for the best answer to this question.
A lot of my projects are not represented, but those audio and video demos are the most "presentable", given the web format. I always get permission, also. More is coming all the time.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. Study music, even if its just for a while. Even different instruments, singing, or different styles can help a lot. Every little bit you do matters over time. I took six months of singing lessons, just so I could better understand what singers go through.
A lot of music production solutions exist today that make it seem like music is something created by technology. Mastering that technology is great, and you can get some good results that way. There is no substitute, though, for having human knowledge of what works well musically, and especially: WHY it works the way it does.
Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. Caring about the musical and audio results of my client's songs and projects. I treat each one as if it is my own.
