    After purchasing an MacBook Air At an Apple store, Apple informed me that they could not transfer my files from my old MacBook due to harddrive issues and in the process of trying to repair the drive, they had destroyed along with the 5,000 photos on it.

    I contacted Northboro Computers and within 3 days Brian had backed up all my data from the "broken" hardrive onto a stand alone drive I had given him. I was then able to upload all files to my MacBook Air.

    Brian was professional, knowledgable and very pleasant to work with. I would recommend Brian to anyone with any PC issues - no matter the brand. Meeting his dog Zip was an added bonus.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Pc's are personal, why aren’t the companies that fix them?
We take the time to understand the client, educate the client on what the problems are and go over options, it’s so easy to get over whelmed and become frustrated. We believe that a little time to help a customer understand the giga this and mega that, what they do and how they differ, they then can make educated decisions on repairs and purchases. If your PC company doesn’t have the time to talk to you without holding out a hand for payment, I recommend getting a new computer guy.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. When buying a PC , a Notebook or a Tablet its very important to know the basics about a pc, understand what all those numbers mean the sales fliers toss at you, remember in retail marketing teams of people use decades of marketing blitz to distract the everyday consumer and use what I call the twinkle effect.
If they make it bright and shiny and oh look it flashes people get distracted and buy on what it looks like, not how it performs nor how reliable it is, or even if it’s a great value or not.
We take the time to learn what a customer wants from a pc(notebook or tablet) and help them decipher what a good fit is, we also help them look down the road, past next month, or the next holiday. What do you want to do tomorrow? Or after the next holiday? Will the system you buy today do that then? Many times when purchasing a system, going up one step on speed or other feature helps that investment last longer, be enjoyable longer. If we have a solution to fit the client were happy to supply it, if its from walmart or staples or even BJ’s, that’s fine two. If we helped a consumer make a proper and wise purchase were pleased and hope that when that client really does need our help, they remember us and allow us the chance to service their system, no matter where they purchased it.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I’ve personally been involved in PC’s and technology since 1983, I’ve had years of schooling, worked at mail order Cad Cam houses, Retail and Wholesale Cad Cam equipment suppliers, and 25+ years in manufacturing of PC’s Notebooks, Servers. I love technology, I love what computers bring to this world and how they help a person become creative. Getting exposed to new tech day after day is great, but the best part for a tech like myself is getting one on one with the end user and learning how they use equipment and software. After years of dealing with the corporate giants of the tech world, it’s great to be dealing with families, children and everyday people.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I currently hold the following degrees or certifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science,
Doctorate in Information systems and technology management
Numerous Microsoft certifications dating back to Windows . NT, Server, MCOP, MCSE, Certified instructor as well a Microsoft partner and I participate on a number of development teams for testing new technology before its released to “open beta”
I’m an Intel channel partner and receive on hands in person training direct from Intel
I’m a member of a verity of storage partners, 3ware, Adaptec, Atto, Seagate, Fujitsu and more to keep up to date on the storage market and tech.
