Introduction: Jeremy JD Sheehan is accepting students at JD Drum School in Stoughton, MA for drum set, theory and performance studies. An emphasis will be placed on technique, rudiments, reading, fills and more. Materials needed include drum sticks, books, practice pad and/or drums and accessories. Drum sticks, drum books, and practice pads can be conveniently purchased at JD Drum School or separately by the student at another location. Beginning drum students start on the snare or practice pad, concentrating on stick control, counting, correct technique and playing rhythms. We then progress to the full drum kit, showing and teaching in detail several rhythm patterns, drum fills and a creative approach to composition of rhythm. A creative approach to applying the rudiments to the drum kit will be an integral part of the students' curriculum. Students will also play along with recorded material and CDs to help master different styles and grooves. Styles include pop, rock, jazz, country, blues and punk. Double bass drum technique will also be covered.

JD is awesome! My 8-year-old son has been taking lessons with him for nearly three months now and there has been steady and noticeable improvement. What I like most is that JD is patient, that he encourages pushing the limits of ability, that it's okay to make mistakes, and that he forces my son to think through the music theory and logic so the concepts sink in. Highly recommend!

My oldest son started drum lessons with JD over 10 years ago and successfully Played throughout HS in Selected Bands, Jazz bands and Marching band. When is was time for my middle son to play I had no question where to go. JD is patient and knows how to bring out the best in his students. My almost 25 year old has a life long love of music due in part to his time at JD Drums. And I'm excited that my other boys will have that too.

I took drum lessons at JD's studio for 4 years while I was in high school. JD taught me the fundamentals I still use when playing in groups of all styles (Jazz, Rock, Classical). After studying with JD, I went on to study music in college, teach music in the public schools and work for Boston Ballet. www.gordonhwilliams.com
