Amber has been to my house for 3 visits, for 2 older dogs, one 4yrs one 3yrs both poorly trained and spoiled. We have already noticed a big, Hugh change in their behavior, she’s on top of her game and her price is reasonable, I’m looking forward to her next visit.

Amber was great! She is very knowledgeable and was able to help us with potty training our 2 small dogs. She gave us very useful advice and our pups were able to respond well. We were very stressed about having many accidents in our home prior to her coming. There have been no accidents for weeks and we got rid of the puppy pads!!! We will use Amber again if we have other issues with our dogs. Thank you! We more then recommend her.

Amber is a talented, superb dog trainer who has a natural way with dogs. If you have a dog who is reactive, bark-prone, lunging, fearful, or has other problems – Amber is the trainer for you. I contacted 20 trainers and training agencies in the Boston area, and Amber was my top choice by far. And it’s not because the other trainers were bad, it is just that Amber was amazing and our dog worked VERY well with her! Amber made HUGE improvements in my reactive, bark-prone dog over one month of working with her; I no longer feel stressed to take my dog on a walk. Ok, now I will tell you way too many details about our experience- prepare for a long post! We have a three year old German Shepherd who, for about a year or so, has been barking and lunging at other dogs (she is “leash reactive” to dogs). We hit a training wall in three areas about a month ago: (i) we couldn’t get her to just calm down when she saw other dogs--- even if we managed to stop her from barking she was really intense and clearly having a big internal reaction, and (ii) she was only on her “best behavior” with my boyfriend, and (iii) she could only keep herself from barking if the other dog was more than about 40 feet away (any closer—bark city.). We were worried that we would never make more progress. Amber asked a lot of questions about our dog, shared her own experience rehabilitating many (!) dogs with issues that were far more severe than what our dog had, shared her ideas for training and training philosophy, and immediately I felt in my gut I wanted to go with Amber rather than with a different trainer. Amber’s goal was that our dog have “polite disinterest” in other dogs. She wanted to get our German Shepherd to glance at another dog, think “oh, look at that”, and then go on about her day. Amber has very clever training strategies that rely on exposure and positive reinforcement (such as lots of tiny treats) as well as gentle redirecting (such as a gentle pop of the leash). I won’t give away Amber’s secrets, but she came up with one idea with a particular prop that I honestly thought to myself “well, this won’t work but let’s give it a try.” I am not too proud to report that (obviously) Amber was 100% right and I was wrong! That training strategy worked wonders with exposing and training my dog. And I am delighted to report that after about one month of working with Amber, we have seen huge improvements. My dog can see a dog within even 15 feet or so and just be polite and calm. The techniques Amber taught me have made our dog much, much more responsive to me- I no longer feel stressed on walks, and I can redirect her attention back to me if she sees a dog. Yesterday I was on a neighborhood jog with my dog and a big lab came sprinting out of the house barking excitedly at the edge of the yard. My dog just looked over politely, and then checked in with me. It was no problem at all. One month ago I would’ve been desperately dragging my barking and lunging 70 pound dog away. We will definitely be continuing to work with Amber! My dog loves Amber- and if you know German Shepherds, you know that they don’t usually get too excited about humans that are outside of their family! I want to add one final paragraph of comments. There are so many dog trainers to choose from! And some of them have hundreds of reviews! I want to suggest you seriously consider going with Amber, for three reasons: (i) she has personally worked with MANY reactive and aggressive and fearful dogs and has succeeded time and time again. (ii) she will develop a personalized and flexible training plan, both in terms of strategies but also times and locations. (iii) she made huge progress with our dog even after we had spent a year working and trying things and reading blogs and books.
