Susan is so knowledgable (not just massage, we also discussed nutrition and other wellness issues). And even though I went with a problem in a specific area, which she addressed, I still found that I enjoyed a wonderful all over massage. I would highly reccommend her!

I went to Susan recently for help with some major painful areas that that just weren't improving with "rest and ibuprofen" therapy. Susan has a very nice touch, a calming demeanor, and she treats you with respect. I found her massage to be quite beneficial - she helped relieve the pain I went there for, and also some pain that I'd for years in another area! I will definitely be going back to see Susan when I need this kind of aid.

A. First, it's great if you are clear on what you are looking for: immediate pain releif, relaxation, stress reduction, cronic pain management, a feeling of balance or clarity.
Next, be aware that it may take more than one session. It's great if you develop a relationship with your practitioner so that you may both work together to get you the best results.
A. How does a therapist know how to find the trouble spots? It is practice. The more a therpist works with clients, the more the become tuned in to the rythms and messages of the body. There may be more heat in one area or a different feel. Certainly major tensions jump out but it is really tuning in with one's heart with complete attention on the receiver that helps us to find and treat issues.
A. What is your usual client like? How long have you been practicing and what types of bodywork are you trained in? Can you describe what a session will be like? What if I don't feel comfortable? Always know that you can tell a therapist when something doesn't feel good. Too much pressure, an uncomfortable tingling feeling, what ever it might be. It is YOUR session.
A. What are your expectations from a session? Are you interested in receiving the cumulative affects of bodywork? Do you want to go only when you have a serious issue? What do you know about bodywork? Do you know about the types that the therapist offers? What kind of therapist are you looking for? Do you want someone who has a good understanding of bodywork for sports or for someone who has medical training?
