Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. First and foremost, look closely at the makeup artist's portfolio. Does the makeup look natural and seamless in photographs, or heavy/unblended? A professional makeup artist should be able to show a range of current photos of their work.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. I always have people asking me where do I learn all these techniques... well not only did I go to school but you can find a tutorial for anything on youtube. We have the technology these days lets use it to our advantage.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. A: When consulting with a makeup artist, this is something you don't want to chance. Find out how they handle sticky situations, if they have back up gear, and ask about their education. Also, make sure you get along well with them and are comfortable. They will be following you throughout the project, and they should be fun to be around!
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Know your budget and what is important to you. For many projects, makeup is one of the most important parts of their budget... it's how the whole project comes together. If you're going to trim costs, makeup should be the last place where that happens.
