FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As with most florists, my flower pricing is based on the cost of the flowers, hard goods and a labor charge. Other fees include set-up and delivery fees which vary depending on who is moving arrangements from ceremony to celebration venues and breakdown (if necessary). Equipment rentals may be available such as aisle runners, candelabras, pedestals, etc which affect the overall costs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have attended trade shows such as the Boston Flower and Garden Show and the Northeast Floral Expo in Mystic, CT to keep up on the latest techniques and products available. I pay particular attention to trends in style and color palette forecasts. There are webinars available to ensure that I am providing the bride and groom the biggest floral impact for their budget.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was a child, my mother used to let me wander into the florist shop next door to the dry cleaners while she picked up my dad's shirts. The ladies would let me scrounge around the floor and collect the flowers they deemed unfit for use. I didn't see the bent stems or damaged petals; all I saw was the beauty in their colors and shapes, the scent in the air and feeling of joy they brought. Who would have ever thought this child's cherished treasures would become a professional's passion!
